A Sin Against Christ?

The Scriptures tell us to love God, and to love others.  Often loving God is evidenced by our love for others, and the opposite is also true.  Although we may say we love God, if we don’t love others (especially other believers), we are proven liars by our actions.  In loving new believers we need to be extremely careful that we don’t cause them to stumble by our actions, our advice, or our false interpretations of Scripture.  To do so not only hurts them, but it hurts all members of the Body of Christ.  It is actually a sin against the God we claim to love.

“When you sin against your brothers in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.”  1 Corinthians 8:12
