Sometimes mornings around our house are almost too much to bear. To start with, I generally stay up much later than I should and really don’t want to get-up when my alarm clock starts screeching–I’ve personally been known to hit “snooze” more than five times! Since we’ve got a house full of children and both my wife and I work outside the home, everybody’s got to get up and out of the house by 7:AM. We’ve got people running everywhere. A tooth brushing here, a running breakfast there. The never ending “have you seen my shoes or my jacket?” With all this going, you can imagine what a struggle it is to actually get some time alone with the Lord in the morning. Funny, Jesus found the time to meet with His Father and kept His mission priority #1 no matter what the rest of the world thought was important.
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: ‘Everyone is looking for you!’ Jesus replied, ‘Let’s go somewhere else–to the nearby villages–so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.'” Mark 1:35-38
