Imagine for a minute you were invited to a friend’s house while they were away. They leave you the keys to everything and have the place fully stocked and ready for your visit. Per your friend’s instruction, you make yourself perfectly at home… so much at home that you step way over the line. You take things that don’t belong to you, use personal items that aren’t yours, and make a real mess of the place. To top it off, you invite a bunch of friends over and let them have the run of the place too! When your friend comes home you really drive the knife in. As they walk in the door you don’t apologize. Instead, you storm out laughing and boasting about how stupid they were.
Of course, this is a ridiculous story! Nobody would be that inconsiderate… Unless of course you take into account the way we treat the incredible blessings we have from our heavenly Father; the way we often treat His children, His creation, or maybe the way many of us discount the incredible sacrifice He made through His only Son!
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” Psalm 100:4
